Going Out With A Bang: Walkinshaw W507, A Modded HSV GTS For The Final Run

Going Out With A Bang: Walkinshaw W507, A Modded HSV GTS For The Final Run

Killing off an American nameplate is simple: starve the brand for money, new designs and in short time, make a case for justifying the killing of the underperformer. Australians, on the other hand, are using their twilight days to make some of the most hell-bent machines that they have ever let loose on the roads, hooning laws be damned.  Holden’s in-house performance group, HSV, unleashed the GTS models of the Commodore and the Maloo ute, but Walkinshaw Performance decided that simply jamming an LSA into the cars wasn’t enough. Does 680hp out of a manual-trans four-door sound good to you? Sounds good to us, especially when all of the modifications to the car equal up to just a tick over $6500 (no word on if that vinyl wrap job is part of the equation or not). And like every Holden product of late that is a barn-burner, this thing both snorts and screams as it’s getting caned. It’s a glorious noise, indeed.
