Great Read: ESPN Interviews 2009 NHRA Funny Car Champ Robert Hight

Robert Hight, the son-in-law of John Force and longtime crew member at John Force Racing, was crowned the 2009 NHRA Funny Car Champion at the Auto Club Finals in Pomona this year. He finished just ahead of Force’s daughter Ashley. Hight was interviewed by ESPN and shares some great stories about the 2009 season and touches on the now infamous race between he and John Force at the US Nationals.

At one point Hight says that if a decision was made for John to lose the round to him at Indy he was never informed of it and frankly, we believe him. Hight has been a complete and total class act since the first time he stepped into a car and we believe that he would probably return the trophy if he felt as though it were tainted or a false accomplishment in any way.

Hight’s story is very cool. He worked at a crew man for Force, married his daughter, and eventually was given an opportunity to live out a life long dream. He’s not managed to take that dream to the next level.
