As we reported yesterday, the legal teams representing former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield and the sanctioning body were in court today to settle differences in opinion about sharing information with the federal judge assigned to the case. While the short, ten minute meeting worked on that problem, it raised another issue. That issue is the question of where Brian France lives, and it has some serious implications on the case.

According to a report on HamptonRoads.com, France’s residency determines whether or not the case is handled by federal court where it is now or state court. Apparently in a court matter last year, France listed his city of residence as Charlotte, North Carolina, but in this case he has listed a city in Florida (we presume Daytona) as his home. The plot thickens, as France will, according to the story, appear in court to speak on this matter.

The other interesting news is that Mayfield told reporters that he was going to hold another auction at his home in the Spring. Lawyers ain’t cheap.
