BangShift.com Wishes You A Safe And Happy Memorial Day

Memorial Day is the day where we reflect on those who died in the service of our country, and remember and honor their legacy. Easy to say, but what does it mean? For some, it brings up images of Arlingon Nationa Cemetery, with rows of headstones. For others, it brings up painful memories of a loved one lost. Veterans may look back upon times spent with brothers-in-arms who didn’t make it home. Memorial Day isn’t exactly a celebration day, but a day of remembrance for the men and women who selflessly served, and paid that final price that every service member fears most.

There is often discussions on whether the popular view of the barbecue/road trip side of the Memorial Day weekend is appropriate, given that history. Speaking as a veteran, enjoy the day. The one thing that those who have served before wanted for their family was the ability to live their life as if there was no reason to worry. If the Soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines were with us, they would be a part of the weekend fun and wouldn’t want anything less for you. Enjoy your time off. Spend it with your family and friends. Go out to the lake, take a road trip. Just do those who have gone on one favor: Take a moment and think of them. Remember them, honor them. From myself, Brian, Chad, and our families, have a safe and pleasant Memorial Day.

“The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.” -John F. Kennedy.
