For us, the most impressive thing about the massive movement that racers and hot rodders are making to EFI (in its various forms) is how companies like FAST have spent the time and resources to make their systems so user friendly and compatible to the needs of their customers. From drag racers who are looking to run repeatable numbers on every lap down the track to street rodders who are looking to have a car that starts and delivers great on-road performance, companies are making offerings to fit everyone’s needs.

One of the most popular offerings on the market is the Fast XFI Sportsman kit that can be had with a throttle body. Capable of supporting 1,200hp, boost, nitrous, and virtually whatever else you can throw at it, this is a system that can work in a return or a non-return configuration and has all the functions for tuning that you could want. It is designed to deliver the data and tuning you want without a lot of functions that sportsman racers or weekend warriors may not be looking for. It is truly designed for those who are looking to make the EFI change and have some say in how the system works.

The FAST C-Com software which is included with the unit so you can literally plug and play. It should be noted that the Fast XFI sportsman system can also be used to fire a multi-point fuel injection system as well for the ultimate in fuel control.

FAST™ XFI Sportsman™ Engine Management System With Throttle Body

Memphis, TN – The FAST™ XFI Sportsman™ Engine Management System is a simple, programmable and custom-tunable unit designed to fill the space between the EZ-EFI 2.0® Fuel + Ignition and XFI 2.0™ segments. A new version of the system now also features a throttle body.

Designed for muscle car, late model street and sportsman drag racing engines, along with boosted applications, the FAST™ XFI Sportsman™ Engine Management System is a bank-to-bank, fully software-tunable EFI setup. It requires a laptop for tuning and uses FAST™ C-Com® software, which comes packaged along with a necessary USB connectivity cable. A new version of the system also includes a 4150-style, eight-injector, 1200-horsepower-capable throttle body to provide easy installation when upgrading a previously carbureted setup.

The system offers either load-indexed Speed Density or Alpha-N fuel strategies. Most users will use Speed Density, but the Alpha-N option is added to serve sportsman drag racers looking for absolute consistency. FAST™ XFI Sportsman™ features full tables to monitor fueling, acceleration fuel, timing and air/fuel targets. A user-configurable auxiliary input channel and full-function data logging are also included. The system supports both naturally aspirated and boosted applications up to 5 bar, is compatible with wet nitrous and has nitrous timing retard control. Built-in CAN network support for the EZ-TCU™, EZ-LS™ and XIM™ also means users can easily plug and play those components with the included CAN wire. FAST™ XFI Sportsman™ features a Bosch wide-band 02 sensor, a waterproof ECU enclosure, utilizes built-in diagnostic LEDs and includes a premium, mesh-type wire-loom multi-port harness.

Compatible with return-style and returnless fuel systems, XFI Sportsman™ is designed for use with high-impedance injectors, and works with a variety of multi-port systems. It is conveniently configurable to work with FAST™ distributors or crank triggers, EZ-LS™ or XIM™. The RPM/tach signal from a FAST™ or other aftermarket CD ignition box is also a timing control option.

    As long as an EFI system costs nearly 3 grand and a carb costs about 600, I’ll be using carbs.

      Sure, under $1000 for just the EFI and ECU. Then add the fuel tank, the fuel pump, the fuel lines, the electrical and wiring upgrade, and the welding for the o2 sensor.
