New Parts: Lingenfelter Performance Engineering Now Offers Forged LSA Pistons (with rings)

If there is one part of a late model engine that sees more abuse than a piston we’re not sure what it is. Guys make so much horsepower with simply bolt ons, nitrous kits, turbo kits, and other means that they often forget that they are stretching and often exceeding the range that their internal parts can operate in…especially the pistons! How many guys have you seen frag factory slugs, mangle ring lands, or just flat out turn them to dust when trying their hot new setup on the dyno or at the track? If you want to get serious with your motor, pistons are one of the first places to start and if you are someone of the GM persuasion who is playing with an LSA, LS3 or LS9 mill and you want to step up to a really nice forged piston, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has you covered. Remember, these are the guys who build more of these monster engines than virtually anyone else on Earth. Their specs on a piston are going to be dead nuts on!

These are designed to clear the piston oiling jets, crank reluctor wheel, and live happily in your block, the superior nature of these things becomes apparent right off the bat when we tell you that they are a forged piece as opposed to the cast piece installed at the GM factory. The piston maintains factory compression and only requires a .010 overbore, meaning that you are not hogging the block out to the limits and you’ll have plenty of room for expansion down the road. Total Seal provides the ring pack for the pistons and they are designed to be used with a 6.125in connecting rod.

LINGENFELTER PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING OFFERS FORGED LSA PISTON AND RING SET

BRIGHTON, Mich. – Lingenfelter Performance Engineering announces the release of its forged 4.070-inch LSA piston and ring set for GM LSA, LS3 and LS9 engine blocks. Designed to work in combination with the wide variety of supercharger pulleys and supercharger upgrades available from Lingenfelter for the LSA engine, the forged LSA piston and ring set (part #L290016509) is designed for:

* 2009-2014 CTS-V
* 2012-2014 Camaro ZL1
* Chevrolet Performance Parts/GMPP LSA crate engine

Engineered using the OEM CAD models to clear the OEM piston cooling oil jets and crankshaft reluctor wheel of the LSA engine, the Lingenfelter LSA piston and ring set’s forged piston construction delivers greater strength than the cast OEM LSA pistons.

The Lingenfelter LSA piston and ring set maintains the OEM LSA compression ratio and has a 0.010-inch overbore forged piston, allowing for bore cleanup on a used block but leaving room for a further overbore should future repairs or service be needed. The Lingenfelter LSA forged pistons feature Total Seal rings with a stainless CrN face top ring, ductile iron Napier 2nd ring and three-piece stainless steel flex-bent design oil ring. The piston and ring set is designed for use with most 6.125-inch aftermarket connecting rods.
