There’s no denying the red hot nature of the diesel performance world these days. Not only are bolt on parts huge, performance engine builds are becoming way more commonplace and because of that, advanced power levels are also becoming the norm as well. MAHLE is right there to help with the performance diesel cast piston line. These piece are designed with performance builds in mind and are far superior than the modified stock parts that many people are using for lack better options.
If you machine a stock piston to make it more performance oriented by say removing material from the crown or adding valve pockets for the performance cam you are adding, you have fundamentally changed the design of that part and not in a way any engineer ever conceived. Now, if you start with a performance piston that has these featured designed into the piston and not as an afterthought you can clearly see which direction is the better one to take.
This video talks about the differences in designing a performance piston as opposed to turning an OE piston into something “high performance”. If you are spending dough to built a high performance engine do you really want to use some ground down stock pistons? We know what our answer would be.
