Nightmare Photos: Lady Crashes Lexus Into Car Show – Wrecks Show Cars

Nightmare Photos: Lady Crashes Lexus Into Car Show – Wrecks Show Cars

Our pal Berserko Bob sent us an e-mail laden with a collection of horrifying photos from a California car show/cruise night gone very wrong. When the first one we saw was a late model Lexus virtually inside a Pontiac LeMans we knew we were in for it.

We don’t know who, we don’t know how, we do know when (the recently passed Wednesday) and where (California). We sure as hell don’t know why.

The photos below tell the sad tale of two cars that were simply minding their own business, enjoying a beautiful California day, when all hell broke loose. From what we have read, no one was hurt, and in the pile of photos we got from Bob, there were shots of the woman driving the Lexus. We ommitted them from the blog item here because we thought they were unnecessary. The real story here are the two mangled cars and the Lexus which had an air bag that did not deploy, even after caving in the side of a Pontiac.

Scroll down, the photos tell the story…

Oh, that’s so wrong. I really feel for both of those guys. At least no one was hurt. It’s a little shocking to see how much damage was done to the Lemans and what might of happened if they were on a road. Looks like some one could be injured pretty severely.

that is just sickening, what kind of speed was she carrying to do that kind of damage. that poor lemans in junk

Yet somehow Toyota has been completely cleared of having any defects that might cause unintended acceleration. Are the people who buy Toyota’s and Lexus’ just less capable than the rest of us of remembering which pedal makes it go, and which one makes it stop?

Looks like a typical case of southern California rectal cranial inversion. So sad about those cars though……..

Sad, but that Le Mans is a total loss. Someone pickup the lexus and drop on her head. She was lucky no one was between the two Pontiac and Ford.

In some jurisdictions, the police won’t make a report or write a ticket if an accident happens on private property such as a parking lot.

I had this happen when a vehicle slammed into the side of my 1985 Fiero back in 1986.

“Turn it over to your insurance companies” was all they said.

I still got stuck with some percentage of the repair costs through the insurance company’s “subrogation” process, on top of my deductable. I guess that is what I get for daring to have my car in a bank’s parking lot.

Think for a moment about these people…..most likely, the answer to your question is yes.

That Lemans is done for. I’m assuming her gas pedal stuck and she wasnt smart enough to shut the engine off or throw it into neutral. Sad…

I can’t imagine coming out to find my pride and joy in this condition. “And I JUST waxed it this morning!”

Maybe she has an aversion to dark paint colors and was expressing it in the only way that she knew how.

    Or not.

looking at these pix I’m filled with a quorum of feelings that lead me nowhere: fury, anguish, and astonishment. I can’t even begin to imagine what I would do if I walked out of the burger joint and saw that piece of $hit impaling my ride.

that LeMans reminds me of my first car (stolen andn never recovered). I’ve often thought about getting another but looking at this carnage, there is no way I will get a 60’s hardtop – Ouch! Looks like post cars only for me.

I saw more photos from this incident. Imagine the stereotypical worst drivers on the road. yes, thats who did this.

Just commenting on from Wayne_In_Akron’s comments about turning it over to ins companies, in Australia I don’t think the insurance will pay out on a car park crash…if there was no money to be had, I’d be taking it out on the Lexus’ owner…

  14. Harrel Lamkin

I have no doubt this is a result of a one-foot driver in a car with too much power for a driver with too little brain-power, who forgot where their foot was. Pushed down to stop, but in a micro-second panic, stabbed the GO pedal further to the floor thinking they had switched to the STOP pedal. A two-foot driver’s brain learns that each foot has a specific duty. They train their brain to instinctively know that the right foot is never used for stopping, thus eliminating this possible scenario. Poor Pontiac. My deepest sympathies go out to the owner.

I know why the air bags didn’t deploy…. It’s a Toyota product. My son had a head on crash and cracked his skull on the steering wheel becaue the air bags on the Corrolla he was driving didn’t deploy.

Highway engineers will tell you that every inch of every road will have someone leave it at speed and crash. Tough that she managed to do it while the show was going on. Good thing people were not standing between those cars.

I can see her conversation with the insurance company now “at least it was just a couple of old cars”.

  17. Fluffy

She better hope the property damage limits on her insurance policy are well above the damage she incurred, or else she should find a very good lawyer.

  18. milkovich

Thank God no one was hurt and she didn’t go for a drive through a playground. That lemans is breaking my heart.

  19. Darren Thiesen

Why would the Air Bags Deploy? The Lexus is hardly damaged. Collision senors are engineered to only deploy airbags if the crush force is great enough to cause driver injury. Airbags deploy with explosive force and will cause neck injuries if deployed in minor collisions. Sometimes you are better off cracking your skull against the steering wheel(which happens to unbuckled drivers) than hitting an airbag unnecessarily.

My heart broke when I got to the fourth photo. I was thinking: ‘Oh, well that doesn’t look too ba– OHHHHH, no!’ I would have been pimp smacking her dumb ass till the cops pulled me off her if that was my car. My condolences go out to the owners of that classic metal.

@ Harrel Lamkin – 2 foot driving is best left to NASCAR and other sports. It’s rediculous to drive that way on the street. Besides, what is your advice for manual transmission cars?

  22. Hector

The airbag didn’t deploy because the impact was not forceful enough. The Ponitac absorbed the impact forces. It’s common to not have airbag deployment in accidents where the car is intact such as this.
You people really need to learn a little about airbags, I hear this BS all the time.

While the Ponitac was nice you can see it clearly demonstrated that they are not safe by any standard allowed today.

  23. bobdeeann

Why the air bag didn’t deploy? Look at the area of impact. The GS was airborn, and first contacted the LeMans above the door sill plates which sits directly on top of the frame. It also hit the area just behind the passenger door. Stucturally, the weakest area of a hardtop design. The Lemans absorbed 95% of the impact, thus very little damage to the Lexus. The LeMans acted as the GS’s crumple zone. The door caved in behind the hinges, and as the impact absorbtion continued, the momnetum pysically pushed the LeMans into the 40 further absorbing the impact. It’s not rocket science to see why the poor Pontiac crumpled like it did. Lie others said, it’s a shame for all involved. I hope the 40 can still be brought back to it’s former glory.

“……….in the pile of photos we got from Bob, there were shots of the woman driving the Lexus. We ommitted them from the blog item here because we thought they were unnecessary.”

No, this site omitted the pics of the Lexus driver for sake of political correctness. Other sites have shown all the photos, including those of the driver; a small, elderly Asian woman. Naturally, those photos promted responses making reference to well-known stereotypes regarding Asian female drivers.

Case in point, this clip from an episode of Family Guy:

Here are the photos of the driver which Bangshift.com didn’t wan’t you to see…….

Funny, some say we must avoid stereotypes for the sake of political correctness, and yet the reason there are these stereotypes is based, a great deal, upon reality.
There are innattentive drivers, everywhere, every day, though. One day, years ago, a car load of Nuns drove into our yard in upstate N.Y., through a row of hedges, around the back of our house, and drove into our race car trailer, with my ’67 hemi GTX sitting on it. I can’t even imagine what was (or wasn’t) going through their minds as they did this.
Funnier still was when the Novitiate called and asked us to pay for the damage so they wouldn’t have to tell their insurance company!

  27. 75Duster

Screw political correctness, I could care less if her airbag deployed, she fucked up some seriously cool rides. I’m a Mopar diehard and I don’t like seeing shit like this happen, to any American car.

  28. Monk

Well looks like there’s much more to the story……bottom line…there were two nice classic cars hurt/destroyed.

The Poncho looks like it was totaled……don’t give a damn if it’s not safe by today’s standards……..thousands of classic cars aren’t.

This PERSON needs to make whole both drivers and car…….can you get a ticket for being stupid?
