BangShift Project Car Video Update: Awesome Video of an 8-Second 1968 Impala From England

BangShift Project Car Video Update: Awesome Video of an 8-Second 1968 Impala From England

Talk about large and in charge! BangShift member NeverAgain recently began sharing photos of his totally kick ass 1968 Chevy Impala drag car. This monster has a big block Chevy in it and goes 8.80s, all while hiking the front end a couple feet in the air. The car is absolutely massive, but with a lot of creativity and smart thinking, weight has come off in spades.

The car has a full Chrome-moly chassis, fiberglass nose with skillfully air brushed lights and grill, what looks to be a Ford 9-inch and four link suspension, a ride height that could scalp an ant, and an alky swilling, pissed off 489ci big block Chevy engine.

Best we can tell from what NeverAgain has posted in our forum section, the car lives most of it’s life on the strip at Santa Pod Raceway in England. We wish we had the chance to check it out in person because we love everything about it. From the stance to the launch form, this big fellow is all guts and no bull puckey.

BangShift Project Car Build Thread: A Drag Racing 1968 Impala

UPDATE 8/26/11- We got a tip from the boys at NeverAgain racing that V8TV Europe had put out a bitchin’ video about the history of their car complete with in-car footage of it running down the Santa Pod strip. Press play below to see the story of an Impala that traveled from California to England, got blown apart, had a tube chassis transplant, 600 pissed off cubic inches of Rat motor and a bunch of ‘glass added! Just like Glenn Quagmire says on “The Family Guy”, “Fat chicks need love too.”

I’ve had two ’66 Impala Super sports, a 327/Powerglide with air and tilt/telewheel, a big Racer Blue Wolverine cam (Remember them? and another set of 3.73’s in a posi rear end. Those two plus two ’62 bubbletop Bel-Airs and my current ’61 Imp 2 dr.hdt qualify me as a genuine lover of big, bad Imps. However, that blue Imp from hell really takes the cake. It’s reminiscent of Joe Szabo’s ’65 Imp that ran low nines with a full interior even! Gotta love it!!!

You really must see this car close up to see what a stunning piece of work it is.The hundreds of hours these boys have spent on it are truly worthwhile as it is just plain gorgeous ,they justifiably should be very proud of this beautiful car
