Do You Miss The Early 1990’s? Then This Body-Kitted Chevy 1500 Is For You!

Do You Miss The Early 1990’s? Then This Body-Kitted Chevy 1500 Is For You!

The 88-97 GM trucks might be best remembered for their role in the creation of the “sport truck” modification craze of the 1990s. You couldn’t get away from them…dropped low, billet everywhere, twenty colors, ZR1 Corvette taipans…nothing was off limits. Well, maybe some things should have been off-limits. That became obvious we clicked the link we were sent for this 1990 Chevy C1500.

Two things are positive: it’s all one color, and it’s a useable height. There. Now that the positive traits are out of the way, let’s discuss that bodykit. A “fastback” cab/bed piece, bigger fender flares than an IMSA racer, a Ferrari-esque side scoop, “ground effects” and a nose cone that combines the worst of the Chevy with…I can’t believe I’m saying this…the nose cone of a 1982 Chrysler Cordoba LS make for one horrifying rendition of a sport truck. Seriously, this is the kind of thing Honda guys look for when they want to make fun of hotrodders. I want to be kind, seriously, I do, because a lot of work went into tacking the plastic onto this unsuspecting Chevy, but I just can’t do it. This is “sneak up on the mirror” ugly.

Mercifully, the interior was only subjected to the interior stylings of a early 1990s conversion van, so compared to the outside of the truck it’s absolutely tolerable, even a welcome relief for the eyes. The two green switches with the wire sticking out from the dash do make me a little nervous, though. Could they possibly be part of some sort of car alarm? Let’s hope not.

The truck is sitting on a used-car lot near Indianapolis for $5900. If you think that you can make this situation better, be our guest, because even if this thing was hiding a 502 under the hood (it’s not) that money would be better spent on anything less visually offensive. Then again, if beauty is in the eye of the beer holder and you’re interested, click the link below.

Man, probably thousands of dollars wasted to ruin a perfectly good truck. Perhaps the “creator” of this thing had some sort of drug induced vision issues. I’m all for mods that make the vehicle stand out as yours, but I’m not sure I’d want to be seen around this person…. or truck.

Holy crap I almost turned into stone! This truck should be named Medusa. Perhaps a license should be issued for fiberglass.

Now that I looked at the ad, I don’t feel so bad. It’s in Noblesville, near Indy, but not Indy.

Wow, that’s pretty damn ugly. You forgot to mention it’s a phantom dually as well. And I suppose we should be thankful it doesn’t have a ZR1 rollpan, although on second thoughts that probably would have been preferable to the lights that are on it now.
