Like The Idea Of An SUV, But Can’t Stand The Thought Of Actually Owning One? How About This 1959 Ford Station Wagon?

Like The Idea Of An SUV, But Can’t Stand The Thought Of Actually Owning One? How About This 1959 Ford Station Wagon?

Sport utility vehicles are everywhere, and long gone is the memory of the family station wagon complete with wood paneling being the trusty do-it-all vehicle. It’s kind of nice to see wagons come full-circle back into a desired group. Slammed B-body wagons, wagon variations of muscle cars getting the phantom performance treatment…it’s great. But this 1959 Ford wagon just might rule them all.

ford wagon 2Starting with an Arizona-sourced wagon, the car was placed onto a stretched Ford Bronco II frame, filled with a 1980s era 351, and has four-wheel-disc brakes. The rest is for you as the buyer to discover. Here’s our take: sure, there is the chance that there might be something to fix. Sure, a stock 351 2bbl from the Eighties isn’t much in the power department. But one thing this Ford does have is style. With Jeep Grand Wagoneers making some surprising hammer numbers at the big auctions, how would the owner of one feel when this white and wood paneled-beauty parks next to it? It wouldn’t be hard to find another Grand Wagoneer. You won’t find another ’59 Ford wagon like this unless you build it yourself.

With that stance it looks like a 4×4 gasser – all it needs is a blower and “shotgun” Hilborn injection and scoop – then I would rob a bank, walk and swim all the way to the USA………

    Gimme!

dang, that thing is ugly! Maybe it’s the wrong choice of wheels and tires, or the woody trim, or just being a 59 ford…it all combines to make for one not good looking ride. I’ll keep my 57 suburban, thanks anyways.

Definitely ugly ass Wheels and car. At least use a ’57 version which look MUCH better than a ’59. I think it would look a lot nicer with white or black wagon wheels.

Did Camaros come in any other color??? 🙂 the only thing that I would change would be the wheels, possibly with a little more offset.

I’d still prefer the car riding at it’s normal stance. Just can’t feel the love for SUVs at all, so this would be the only way in Hell that Crusty would ever drive one.
I’ll leave all those SUVs for the Soccer Mom’s that thought they were cooler than minivans.
