Racing Junk Find: A 1989 Ford Old School Show Monster Truck – You Know You Want It!

Racing Junk Find: A 1989 Ford Old School Show Monster Truck – You Know You Want It!

As fans of old school monster trucks, we almost fell off of our rickety shop stool when we saw this totally bitchin’ 1989 Ford old school monster for sale on Racing Junk. Rolling on the 48-inch tires that were standard issue before the 66-inch rollers we now know as monster truck tires became popular, it also seems to be rolling on a modified stock frame.

The motor is a 473ci Ford stroker that sports a full roller valvetrain and a 1050-cfm Dominator on top. The open headers dump just behind the front tires, so the noise factor will be 11 on a scale to 10, which is just about right. Keeping with the old school monster theme, there are 2.5-ton Rockwell top loader axles under the truck, although we’re not sure about what transmission is spinning behind the big Ford motor. For argument’s sake, we’ll go with a C6.

The hydraulic tilt bed and hood add to the 1980s goodness, as well as the custom paint and name painted on the rear corner of the bedsides. Get yourself a budweiser cap, a chick with high hair, and a mud pit, crank up the Van Halen and squash a couple of late 1970’s Chryslers and Cadillacs for max hero status.

This truck rules.

Great looking truck. I think I’d have to change out the 2.5 tons for 5 tons if I had it, just to make it more old school authentic. Would love to see it catch some air on some cars!
