RacingJunk Find: An 8V92T Detroit Diesel Powered 1979 Kenworth Drag Truck! With Tire Shredding Video!

Behold the most perfect thing you have ever seen in your life. Ok, it is the most perfect thing I have seen in MY life and that’s saying something because I have seen and loved some whacked out stuff. This 1979 Kenworth is for sale on RacingJunk.com and I have never actively tried to figure out how to buy something that I have zero shot at in my entire life. This truck is pretty much the neatest thing we have found on any commerce website in recent memory. Stripped down, running a single axle with big super single tires and looking ratty enough to be perfect in my eyes, this truck is probably pretty quick because it is damned light. Basically it is stripped to the bone and loaded with pissed off two stroke Detroit Diesel.

We have no real way of knowing what kind of power the twin turbo 8V92 is making in the front of the truck but when you see the video of the truck annihilating tires and barely working up a sweat to do it, your pants will tighten right up like ours did. The truck is located in New Jersey so we’re guessing the plan was to race it at E-Town, Atco, maybe Island as well. Who knows? Some specifics on the beast straight from the RacingJunk ad:

very nice, tight, original 1979 Kenworth W900A
LOW miles 250K ish original miles
8V92 Detroit Diesel Twin Turbo
set up for NOS, not currently on truck, comes with sale
Allison RS740 auto, set up for racing, 2nd gear start
air ride rear suspension
3.73 rear gear w/locker
air brakes, front and rear
trolly valve set up as line lock

If you have been reading this site with any regularity over the years you know that I am just stupid for trucks and especially trucks that have been modified to go fast. The bigger and the faster the better. I’m looking at a literal dream rig right here. I am also looking at lunch of the Dollar Menu so a $20,000 expenditure on a racing Kenworth isn’t in the cards. A BangShift reader needs to buy this thing and when you do, just let me sit in it and idle the thing around the pits or something. I am a man of simple tastes and pleasures.

The divorce would cost more than 20k.Get pictures of the neighbors with pitchforks and torches though?

The SuperTruck! logo, raging burnout and smokeshow might be worth it.

Everyone needs a Kenworth that’ll do burnouts. I reckon I’ll by this thing tonight. Then go see my divorce lawyer on Monday.

Not only twin turbos, but feeding the roots blower you can just see in the engine photo!

    Man……..

Truth be told, the roots is only there on the 2-stroke Detroit to facilitate starting…it’d make more power without it, if you could get it running…
