Rough Start: Saving This Suicide-Door Continental From Maryland Sounds Reasonable

Maryland has shown that there is little appreciation for car culture-just ask anyone who attended the H2O International Festival. It’s sad to see the way that the police have taken to dealing with car culture, so screw ’em, leave all the Passats and Corollas in Baltimore and in return, let’s bring out some of the worthy rides. In this case we have a 1963 Lincoln Continental four-door that could use a good home.

Is the Conti rough? Yes. But it is plated and on the street, and not on two flat tires either. This Lincoln was the restoration project of an individual who has since become unable to finish the project but has worked on the car in a straightforward and thoughtful way. The brake system received a going through, including new lines and calipers, and some attention was paid under hood, replacing a worn power steering hose. The askew door panels are due to the latest project, troubleshooting and fixing the window switches.

Unfortunately, there isn’t an actual price attached to the Lincoln, but all things considered, this should bring a reasonable price. I say should  because we all here know what it’s like to deal with someone who believes that they have a pile of gold in front of their house when the smell is telling of a different pile altogether. This is one of the very rare times where further investigation would be needed to justify purchase, but being a suicide-door Lincoln, it doesn’t hurt to ask, does it? Where would you start the negotiations at?

Really? You do realize that the H2Oi event is not sanctioned by the town of Ocean City. There were a reported 43 vehicle collisions on Friday and Saturday alone during the event. The OCPD were simply trying to keep things as safe as possible.

The same town hosts spring/fall hot rod/cruising events annually that are among the best in the Mid-Atlantic region. Meanwhile over the weekend in Baltimore, we hosted the Rodder’s Journal Revival; an event featured on BangShift which Lohnes described as becoming “one of the premier gathering of awesome hot rods in the known universe over the course of just a few short years”.

mate, don’t know if you saw it but they’re referring to a statement by cops that they would impound any vehicle , out of state included, that was modified just about….there was a piece on it on BS a few days ago…
