Auto Meter’s GPS Enabled Rally Navigation Speedometers Are Just The Ticket For Pinpoint Accuracy

Auto Meter’s GPS Enabled Rally Navigation Speedometers Are Just The Ticket For Pinpoint Accuracy

GPS speedometers are finding their way into more and more cars and trucks recently and the whole thing make sense. With A GPS speedo, you no longer have to worry about accuracy due to tire size changes, gear ratio changes, etc. The GPS speedo removes that physical link between the gauge and the moving pieces of the car and just looks at you speed from the “eye in the sky” perspective to determine how fast you are going. If you don’t think that this is accurate, you are dead wrong because if it weren’t, Auto Meter would not have a line of GPS speedometers designed for rally drivers who depend on amazing accuracy to win events.

Whether you are an off-road high speed rally guy or an on-road time distance rally guy, the speedometer is a big part of your life. Stages need to be finished in time and they also have to be finished on the route so not old does this baby give you accurate speeds, it will also relay information like compass, heading, and coordinates for navigation, an hourmeter for tracking vehicle maintenance, GPS date and time, and peak speed. Have done a few time/distance rallies in my dad’s 1964 Pontiac GTO as a kid, the accuracy of the speedo and a general directional heading are huge factors in doing well.

We think these are pretty cool and probably some of the “smartest” speedos that have ever been available for guys to bolt into their hot rods. If you want to step up your program a little in the gauge department as well as eliminating the worries we talked about above, look into an Auto Meter GPS Enabled Rally Navigation Speedometer!

GPS speedometers are a neat solution, except they are anything but perfect when in forests, in tunnels, or closely following a hill where the signal cannot reach. Not to mention it can take 5 minutes to get a signal…. it pays to know how fast you’re going by rpm.

I have six Auto Meter gauges in my car, I´m missing a speedo.,
when are they going to do one in kilometres/hour ?

yep, couldn’t agree more about getting around ratio and tyre size issues. Not sure how pricey these gauges are but I wanted a similar solution – but without shelling out much money. I bought a GPS for my car for $79 – purchased on two considerations 1 ) cheapest one I could find and 2) it had to display speed. I ended up with an i43 Navig8tor which, aside from the usual gps type navigation functions, has a number of screens to display speed – the one I use most has a central readout of speed as a digital readout about an inch high so even with my crappy eyesight I can see a very accurate speed at a glance (also displays time, compass and a few other things on that same screen) – there is another display that shows analog and speed alert and even on maps theres a readout of speed at the bottom of the screen – all for under 80 bux..
