Holley Introduces Dual Plane LS Intake Manifolds – Great Low End Torque And Plenty Of Carb/TBI Options

Holley Introduces Dual Plane LS Intake Manifolds – Great Low End Torque And Plenty Of Carb/TBI Options

While many people are performing LS swaps using the factory style fuel injection systems they come with, there’s a large contingent of swappers using LS engines in drag cars, trucks, street machines, and other applications that prefer the option of running a carb or even a TBI style induction system. Holley has recognized that with the introduction of this dual plane intake manifold for LS-series engines which is designed to make great low end torque and solid power in the 1,500-6,500 RPM range. Holley has two part numbers associated with this intake due to the fact that one is dedicated to the cathedral port style heads used on the LS1/LS2/LS6 series of engines and the other is designed for the rectangle ports used on the LS3/L92 cylinder heads.

People like to sometimes squawk about the claims of how cheaply LS swaps can be done after parts are bought and the engine is actually bolted into the car and running. Well, we’d say that this intake, which retails for a little more than $250.00 and a carb you have sitting on your bench at the shop is a very budget minded solution for the guy who has an LS long block that is being swapped into the vehicle of the his choice. Sure it is more basic than a fancy pants EFI manifold, but at the same time it can get you up and running and making power for pennies in comparison.

We need a carb’d LS motor in our lives.

Here’s the word from Holley on their new dual plane intakes for LS-Series engines –

Holley is proud to announce their all new carbureted dual plane intake for the popular GM LS engine.  This intake allows you to bolt your favorite 4150 flange carburetor onto an LS engine for a quick and easy way to get your ride on the road.

Its dual plane design makes it perfect for making low end torque, yet it still pulls all the way to 6,500 RPM.  It also features o–ring cylinder head mounting flange gaskets to provide an OEM style seal and make installation a snap.  Holley’s all new intake is available for LS1/LS2/LS6 cathedral port heads (p/n 300-130), as well as LS3/L92 rectangle port heads (p/n 300-129).

The individual product text and high resolution images can be found at the individual product pages here: P/N 300-130, P/N 300-129.

I’ve seen TBIs on LS motors before, but I can’t figure out why. Nostalgia for an era of halfway attempts to modernize older engines without actually spending the money needed to do things right?

If you want your truck to look pretty (and don’t want to play with the wiring to clean it up) or aren’t comfortable working on EFI, I get it. For damn sure a cast aluminum intake without a rat’s nest of wiring is a lot nicer to look at.
I don’t really understand taking reliable, clean burning & powerful EFI and downgrading to a carb, though. Carbs are junk.
