A San Antonio, Texas church parking lot sounds like the wildest illegal gearhead destination in the USA. The Grace Point Church has a massive parking lot. That’s great for getting worshipers in on Sundays but apparently it has turned into some type of haven for street racing, donuts, theft, etc. The situation is bad enough that a local TV channel has reported on it.
We did some extensive research (ok drop the extensive part) on the lot and found that there are ways to line up where cars would have about a 1400ft straight shot to run. After 1400ft there appears to be a neighborhood, so we’re guessing lots of the racing activity was held to an eighth mile. The lot is vast and set back off the main road, so we can see where a couple guys doind some donuts would evolve into racing and near death experiences.
The parking lot is close to eight acres in total size and the problems are not limited to street racing and donuts. Unfortunately, there have been a rash of car break ins at the church with jerks preying on people dropping their kids off to preschool and daycare at the church.
The church has security camera in the lot now and apparently police have been starting to crack down, but it is still a problem. The Pastor of the church issued a truly hardline statement when she said, “We would love for them to stop doing it.” That kind of tough talk will certainly get this cleared up in no time!
In all honesty we hope this problem is solved quickly before something bad happens. We’ve heard the proverbial story of the street racer crashing into a van full of nuns, but never the one about the racer crashing into the actual church!

It PMO when they reported DRAG RACING in the lot. I reached out to some of the local R…Kids, and got the semi low down,it’s been THE spot for them all summer.
It all went to hell when they started “Taging” the place then some DA sprayed a tag on the building,that was the last straw…
My insider said “somebody” would come around and run them off at around mid night,even when the copps showed they just checked ID’s and sent them off.Then they started Running,over 30MPH in nieghborhoods,(?) and the local news got on the job.
Stupid ass kids ruin another hang out .It happens all over.
it only takes one DA to ruin it for everyone. that sounds like a great place for a cruise night, nice and big and paved. all it would take is for some headstrong ADULTS to bring some trash cans to keep trash to a minimum and to monitor and police the street squirrels. racing, burnouts, donuts, tagging and fighting get you expelled from the lot………

I just watched the video at the above link and the reporter said they were musclecars, that is how we get a bad name. musclecar owners aren’t, for the most part, that stupidt. i wish reporters would get the story right…………

I imagine that speedbumps are pretty cheap,especially for a tax-exempt business like a church.
