Tofurkey: Chevrolet’s EN-V 2.0 Electric Car To Be Used In Chinese Car-Sharing Experiment

Students of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, meet the vehicle of choice for  your new car-sharing ride program. The Chevrolet EN-V 2.0 was selected to be the vehicle of choice for the university’s multi-modal car-share program that integrates with buses, bicycles and cars at the Minhang campus in Shanghai. The program is an experiment of sorts, which will evaluate the benefits and pitfalls of such a vehicle sharing model for urban centers. The 697-acre campus has an average of 42,000 students and will be used as the in-between mode of transportation between arrival in the urban center and the destination.

The EN-V 2.0 is a two-person EV with a range of 25 miles on a single charge. It was designed, engineered and will be built in a joint venture between General Motors and their Chinese partner SIAC. Among a list of features is “automated valet parking and retrieval”…while there is no explanation yet as to what that actually entails, it might be the most interesting part of the EN-V, because being able to get out of your car in front of your destination and telling it to go park itself is honestly pretty damn handy. Whether it can make up for the EN-V’s looks, however, is fairly unlikely.

The vehicle share program will take place over the next year.
