Barrett Jackson’s Preview Video Featuring The Snake And Mongoose Haulers Is Awesome

Barrett Jackson’s Preview Video Featuring The Snake And Mongoose Haulers Is Awesome

By now you know that the Snake and Mongoose haulers are the major item of the 2014 Barrett Jackson Scottsdale auction in a couple of weeks. These two trucks were found and restored and have been increasing in fame over the last few years, especially with the release of the Snake and Mongoose movie in 2013. The Dodge D700 trucks were a pair of the coolest pieces in drag racing when Prudhomme and McEwen hauled their iconic funny cars around with them. As you’ll see in this video, the trucks became the men’s calling cards and were recognized at tracks, on the highways, and wherever they stopped on the road. For good reason, too. These are two of just a dozen race car haulers that Chrysler built to support famous race teams back in the day. Interestingly, as you’ll hear in the video both Prudhomme and McEwen were the second owners of their trucks. Richard Petty first used Prudhomme’s and was in the process of giving it back to Chrysler when they turned it over to Snake while McEwen’s truck was originally used by Sox and Martin.

The trucks and the cars riding on their backs are going to be sold as a package deal and are expected to bring some HUGE money from the bidders at Scottsdale. We know of at least one person who is restoring an old hauler truck (formerly owned by Dick Landy and they are as interested as anyone in seeing what these trucks bring. Their rarity is one thing but their provenance is another, having been the backbone of the most famous one-two funny car combo in drag racing history. Of note, Prudhomme’s car is the actual car he raced back in the day while the car on the Mongoose truck is a recreation of the original.

Barrett Jackson made this promotion film to hype, educate, and promote the sale of the trucks which is set to happen in little more than a week. Any guesses as to what they’ll bring? We bet it is at least a million dollars. What do you think? Watch the video below and tell us!

It’s thrilling and a little sad at the same time. What a thrill for some rich bastard, though, to own these two pieces of history! I just hope they don’t “vanish” from public eye……

I remember these trucks from way back when I was a couple years younger than I am now. I figured they were turned into someones new Dodge by now. Glad they’re still around and restored. They’re a big piece of drag racing history.

Thanx for putting that video together! I just wish I was able to by both of those trucks to add to my Worlds Largest Hot Wheels Collection!
