Easter Egg: Watch the Guys at Induction Solutions Fly A Manifold Off the Bench With Nitrous Pressure!

Horsing around at the shop has long been a staple of the high performance and hot rodding community. In fact, lots of awesome stuff has come from such sessions of mechanical debauchery. Outside of the normal stuff like igniting acetylene filled trash bags, zapping people with charged condensers, and other such booby traps, there’s also the whole…umm…non destructive testing end of things. This video shows the guys at Induction Solutions, a company that specializes in custom, full tilt nitrous systems for race cars, literally levitating a beefy cast aluminum intake manifold with the pressure generated by shooting nitrous through the nozzles plumbed into the intake. Other than the general humor, it will give you a new appreciation of just how hard this stuff hits the motor when the “go fast” button is pushed.

The video shows the first launch in real time and then it goes through a slow motion replay, which is totally 100% BS approved. Obviously this is kinda dangerous as you’d freeze your hands into shattering ice blocks had they been on the business end of this blast, but these guys are trained professionals…we think. Don’t try this at home kids!

it’s the Mars Lander, Curiosity! (the charged condenser trick was my fav when i was a bike mechanic back in HS… even if they knew what it was they’d still catch it… ha)

I had no idea there was ever that amount of nitrous even possible to be shot. Thats pretty cool.
