Car Review: Watch As Regular Car Reviews Tries To Take A Serious Look At A Stage II DeLorean!

The DeLorean DMC-12’s story is well known here. The legend aside, the biggest problem with the silver gullwing’d wonder was that it was simply underpowered. 132hp isn’t fast, period, and when it looks as good as it does, it better perform. But it didn’t. It had failing alternators, no guts, and would have been relegated to history if it weren’t for a movie series. Kind of a sad fate, but truth hurts.

The guys at Regular Car Reviews got their hands on a Stage II DeLorean, courtesy of Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire. The Stage II modifications brings the DeLorean up to 215hp, just over the mark that John Z. wanted in the original car. The worked engine, coupled with a very low mileage five-speed car, is the subject of their test, as they try to appreciate the DeLorean for what it was meant to be, not what it has become due to legend. If you can look past a lot of creepy Marylin Monroe/Norma Jean references, it’s actually a pretty decent review of the oft-maligned sports coupe, and one that doesn’t have the words “time machine” anywhere in there.

What was the first 90 secs all about?
Anyway, not much of a “review”.

Any of us who daily,or near daily, drive our classics already know we are ambassadors for all “old” car owners , it’s as if it’s our job not to be an @$$ to the non car people , at times I feel if I’m nice to those who dont “do” cars maybe they will think of me and vote against the next regulation that comes around trying to regulate my life , I mean “hobby”.

    I can only hope….

I was hoping he’d talk about the car itself some but he just drones on and on about nonsense. It didn’t get interesting until Farrah was explaining the controls to him.
