Check Out This Collection Of All Of The Incidents From Bathurst 2016 Right Here!

Australians hold the Bathurst races at Mount Panorama in high regard, this we know. The racers drive like the Devil was on their tail the entirety of the run…again, this we know. And what happens when a race car driver exceeds their talent and ability while flogging a race-prepared machine at the razor’s edge of the limits? That’s right: brutal crashes. Between the cars we know as V8 Supercars, the V8 Utes and a class made up entirely of Toyota GT-86s (aka Scion FR-S), there was plenty of commotion and crushed metal to spread around. The biggest controversy of the 2016 race involved Garth Tander and Scott McLaughlin, who both crashed out after Jaime Whincup, who had been pushed into the grass at a prior corner, came back onto the track, tapping McLaughlin, who got into Tander. Though Whincup was the first to cross the line at the finish, the 15-second penalty that race officials levied upon him knocked Whincup down to 11th place. The winner, Will Davidson, was only 0.14 seconds ahead of Van Gisbergen’s Holden, the closest finish in Bathurst 1000 history.

Once again, the little engine that couldn’t. Couldn’t. Not a Ford on the podium.
