Classic YouTube: The Drifting Camaro, In All Of It’s Glory

This footage is the ultimate bad influence. It’s the benchmark for stupid driving fun. It’s a goal that needs to be attained. It’s one of the first Aussie burnout videos I ever saw. It reminds me today of back in the days of CarJunkieTV.com and Freiburger’s Junkyard, when we had “Burnout Mondays” and an Aussie who ran under the name of “BlackOutSteve” put on a freaking clinic every week in his black Camaro. This blown beast isn’t that car, but all the same, it’s good. Peter Gray’s work behind the wheel of the “USA 502” Camaro in this older Scotty’s Garage video (that would be the same Scotty that is now doing work for Street Machine, by the way) somehow blends a drift attack with an Australian burnout and comes off better than either of those events on their own. The speed this black machine carries during the drift would be right at home in a tandem set, but the tail-whipping donuts and fog-bank clouds wouldn’t look out of place on the pad at any “nats” event across the country. This isn’t just standing on the throttle until things start to break…this is mastering car control while dancing on the line between control and “you’re in the dirt, mate!” It’s the perfect recipe: a solid driver, a blown Camaro with plenty of body-twisting grunt, and all the room in the world to play. Get after it, then.
