Drag Battle: Tanner Foust’s World RallyCross Fiesta Versus Roy Hill’s 5.0L Supercharged Cobra Jet Mustang…Who Wins? (Video)

Drag Battle: Tanner Foust’s World RallyCross Fiesta Versus Roy Hill’s 5.0L Supercharged Cobra Jet Mustang…Who Wins? (Video)

We wish that we had Ford Racing’s video production budget because we’d be pulling guys like Roy Hill and Tanner Foust together for fun like they do! We don’t know who to credit, but someone at Ford had the great idea to pit a World RallyCross car against a Cobra Jet Mustang. Why? Isn’t that a giant mis-match? First to answer the “why”. We’re going to be seeing a lot more video like this from Ford starting next year and moving into 2015. They’ve pulled sponsor deals from the NHRA and other places that don’t have too much of a connection to factory produced cars anymore. Ford will continue to be a sportsman supporter and they came right out and said that they were going to concentrate on production based racing. To answer the second question, this car’s small displacement turbocharged combo is a strong one and the all wheel drive certainly helps it to get moving. Foust’s car is a mean little monster which can really hold its own on the strip.

We’re not going to totally give up the ending to you. We will say that despite its flaws, the little RallyCross Fiesta hauls ass. It goes into the 10.50s at nearly 130mph. Those are stout numbers any way you look at it. The Cobra Jet was also on point but we’re going to make you watch it yourself. Seeing Roy Hill and Tanner interact is pretty much worth the price of admission as they couldn’t be more different, from their physical appearance to their cars!.

Absolutely agree. Let’s take the Cobra Jet into the dirt, take jumps and turn corners. Ahhhhh, nope.

Easy. Ford wins. A great stunt to build “bait and switch” interest in Ford’s current performance cars.

Of course, neither the Cobra Jet nor the rally-spec Fiesta are all that representative of what Ford sells its showroom customers. A $100,000 Mustang or $300,000 rally car are hardly what Joe Lunchbox can score at his local Ford store.

But with 54.5 mpg CAFE standards likely driving up prices and driving down supplies of traditional RWD V8s over the next ten years (not that the Bluetoothed “I-Generation” gets off-line enough to much care), Ford (and everyone else) has work cut out for them in building demand for smaller transverse four-and three-cylinder “hot hatches.”

BTW, they’ll get my V8 when they pry my cold, dead hand off of the Hurst shifter . . . .

blah blah blah stop your whining. You act like the people want these “ECO” cars. Its just the government regulations causing the auto manufacturers to change their ways. Car customization and tuning is still alive as much as ever. Times change. Although you sound like someone who still thinks the 70s muscle cars are more reliable than modern cars.

Roy hill, man that belly is really horrible. I’m shocked that you found a shirt that gave you enough material that would cover your girth. I know you don’t care anymore about the way you look, but famous or not, you got to know when to say no to growing that gut. I mean look at yourself, your head looks way way to small for your frame. Gees man, take care. P.s. Good luck wedging him in to a ford fiesta
