Dyno Video: Watch A 428ci, NASCAR Race Block Based Chrysler Wedge Engine Scream Out 712 HP Naturally Aspirated!

It has been way too long since we featued a hot Chrysler wedge engine making a dyno pull on the blog. To right this wrong, we bring you the footage below which is of a nasty little bastard of an engine. This 428ci mill is based off of a 48-degree bank Chrysler R3 race block. It has nasty Indy 360-1 heads, 11.5:1 compression, a nasty big solid roller cam, and Indy 3R intake manifold and a Holley Ultra HP 950 carb on top. It sounds awesome pulling right over 7,000 RPM without so much as a hiccup.

When watching this dyno video, pay attention to the little “gauge” on the upper right corner of the screen that is in front of the camera. That little gauge is showing you how much HP the engine is making throughout the pull. As you’ll see the thing is making like 400hp at 4,000 RPM, but when the operator loads the motor and shoves the throttle all the way open, that thing bends right over and the mill ends up spitting out 712 horses at peak. It looks like 715 actually flashes up for half a second at one point, but we’ll stick with the engine builder’s number. The guys at Shady Dell Speed Shop are the ones who dynoed the engine (we’re not sure if they built it). Their YouTube page is literally chock full of bad ass engines from Chryslers to Chevrolets making pulls. You’ll trudged into a swamp of time sucking awesome if you visit their page…trust us. We just managed to fight our way out of the awesome mire!

If you like your Chryslers mean and nasty, this engine is totally your jam.
