Call us names if you want, but this video made us smile. It is part of a newsreel of some other promotional film from Chevrolet in the mid-1930s. The video shows employee James Scott, who stands at a towering seven feet three inches tall working on the end of the assembly line at a Chevy plant, inspecting the roofs of new cars. Seven foot tall people look normal when they are all standing around one another on a basketball court, but out in the world, let’s admit it, they are a spectacle. That’s the truth even today but back in the 1930s when people were smaller in general this dude must have been seen as truly exceptional.

The funniest part of the video for us is when he manages to get most of himself inside a sedan as it rolls off the line. That must have been the part where they tested the springs and frame strength. The guy doesn’t look like a string bean so at that height, the dude has to be well over 400lbs. Oh, when he picks up his co-worker so that guy can have a look-see at the roof, we almost spit out our beer soda.

It is a quickie, but it is good for a chuckle!
