What To Do When Your Hippy Wife Owns A Prius. A Hot Rodders Guide To Justifying Owning One

What To Do When Your Hippy Wife Owns A Prius. A Hot Rodders Guide To Justifying Owning One

This video cracked us up, and then got us scratching our heads and thinking. I’ve often said that I wished every non hot rodding idiot on the road would drive a Prius so that I can burn as much fossil fuel as I like with low cost and no worry about running out. What I hadn’t thought of was some of the other reasons for owning one. Like keeping the hippy wife happy, or offsetting all the cool stuff with some “Green”. Well apparently hot rodding video dude Jason Lewis did think about that, but at the same time couldn’t keep away from his wife’s Prius with just a touch of hot rodding. This video is going to make you laugh, and then it’s going to make you think he’s thinking about it too much, and then you are going to see all the hot rods and fun stuff he owns. I’m not saying he wouldn’t own them if he didn’t get his hippy wife a Prius, but if it make her feel like she’s doing something to offset his habit, then good for them.

Finally!!! A Hot Rodder who gets it. Yes, every non hotrodder (90+%) who just wants transportation from their vehicle should be driving a hybrid (or electric). And why do so many Hot Rodders hate Prius’s? They have incredibly good engineering. Better Aero than a Vette! Wanta go fast at Bonneville? Put a LS7 in a Prius! Personally, I buy American, so I have a Lincoln MKZ hybrid to go with my Shelby Mustang Convert. and my Fox Mustang racecar.

Every non-hotrodder? Who the [censored] are you to say what ANYONE should drive you, arrogant P.O.S. !!! Freedom of choice, you ever heard of it, you pretentious d-bag?!?!?

I can never understand the hate on EV or cars with good MPG. They serve a purpose. I’m never giving up my Camaro or my racing addiction, but I’m also not givin’ up my Cooper S that gets 35 mpg either.

I have a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire. I bought it last year with 65K miles, and I paid $3K for it. It replaced a 2002 Chevy Cavalier that had 191K miles, that I put 160K miles on. I paid $3K for it.

My old junk Cavalier depreciated about $600 per year. I expect the same from the new junk Sunfire. If I buy a Prius, can I expect the same depreciation? So a Prius gets 45 mpg and my junk gets 30-32. I can live with that.

My wife drives either a 1980 Camaro or a 1999 Crown Vic depending on the day and her mood. With the combo in the Camaro it gets 23 mpg, and the Crown Vic gets 24. She has a 5 mile commute each way. We don’t care about her economy too much.

For work, I’m an auto and home inspector. I see a lot of broken Prius(es?) and I inspect a lot of lease turn in Prius(es?) as well. I’d rather have my old Pontiac. Much better riding car, much more room, much easier to service, much cheaper to own.

A environmentally concerned, self-righteous “woman” who looks like she cannot and has not pass a Dunkin’ Donuts in the last 20 years? Priceless. Well, I guess if it “works” for Al Gore, it should “work” for her, too, right?

Don’t … [ try and justify it ] They’re a pretentious pile of ____ that should never of been sold that in fact creates more problems [ for the environment as well as its owners ] than it even comes close to solving .

Buy her a VW Beetle Diesel … flowers in the vase and all … and be done with it

If she aint happy with that … move on .. she’s either delude or drug addled and way beyond help

This from a bit of a hippy 😉

I don’t have to worry about my wife wanting a pile of crap like that so I won’t have to justify owning it and lie like this guy did.
She almost as big a car junkie as I am, and loves her 300SRT8. When she ain’t driving my Challenger SRTt8 or one of my other hotrods that is.

There is no justification for owning one, period. It does not make economic sense at any level. A Camry is more economical, creates less environmental impact, is more reliable and long lasting, and….wait for it…. is actually a comfortable, nice riding, quiet car. Prius grabbed people with slick advertising. The car is a POS.

The limo company I worked for bought a bunch of Prius’s, or whatever the plural is, for the Hollywood set that wanted to be all environmental. Absolutely the most uncomfortable car that has been built in the last 30 years.

I thank the news agencies blowing the Uninttended Accellaration stories all out of proportion for not having to drive ever since. We moved up to hybrid Lexus RX300’s. Much nicer and more comfortable car to be in 12 hours a day. And, I feel safer than riding around in literally recycled Bud Light can.

This sums up my diesel SsangYong pick-up perfectly. Reliable, tough, economical and means the road/race BMW is safe.
Oh, and the SsangYong has twin 2 3/4″ chrome exhausts, chrome wheels and a K&N cold air intake………of course.

Haha, great video and that Flowmaster does make it sound unique in a sea of soul less Priii.

funny video…was that the viper v-10 maverick? thought he looked/ sounded familiar – that would have been a cool project if he’d finished it.
