How Does A Brit Enjoy A NASCAR Racer From Behind The Wheel? Check This Out!

Some automotive spectacles don’t exactly translate too well. Auto racing is formed by geographical features and culture. Take NASCAR, for example: geographically, we have plenty of open area that allows a car to run at high speeds, and culturally…well, at least in the South, anyways…there is a penchant for driving fast while doing potentially illegal and highly questionable things. Agree with me or not, that’s pretty much how NASCAR came about – moonshining. In England, like much of Europe, the hillclimb is popular. Get permission to use a section of twisting, uphill roadway and see who can make it the fastest without winding up in a hedge. Keeps the venue small, keeps the competition fierce. Neither could be more different in style, however, and take our word for it, a lot of Southern America doesn’t translate well in the U.K. So what would happen if you stuck a Brit who might have a facination with the movie Days of Thunder in a City Chevrolet-painted ex-racer Chevrolet and cut them loose at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Britain? Drew from Carfection recently got his shot behind the wheel. The only catch we heard that makes these different than normal is a 350ci V8 instead of the 358ci V8s that we bet the teams hang on to…but surely someone, even in the U.K., can make a 350 Chevy thump, right?

  1. Crazy

NASCAR didn’t come out of moonshine industry..
It came out of the drivers need to scratch the itch of the need for speed..
Moonshine drivers had already built up the skill of sliding a vehicle on dirt.. and they found out they could make money doing this..
You’ll note that the founders of nascar didn’t have anything to do with moonshine, only some of the drivers that decided to try it once it was started..
