So far this week, Grinner Hester holds the high water mark for insane video/photo work with his capture of the Lizzy Musi wreck at the ADRL Bristol race, but he has competition. This rally photographer is one lucky son of a gun as he was shooting photos at an unknown rally in an unknown country when a competitor, hauling ass down the road, skied his car over a jump and directly into a tree he was shooting behind. The concussion from the impact seems to knock the photog right on his ass, but he jumps up quickly and scampers away. Safety personnel are quick to arrive at the car and aid the driver who must have been a hurting unit.
The driver climbs out of the car before the clip is played again, this time in slow motion, giving us an amazing view to the closest call that photographer will ever live through. We’re guessing that he got some of the wildest shots you’ll ever see because his lens was up right until the point of impact when the little car center punched the tree.
Motorsports photographers and video guys put themselves in places to get the best shots possible, but often those places are also potential flash points of craziness. Those awesome photos and video don’t take themselves! This is another example of the fine line between incredible work and incredible danger!
