It’s Done! Hot Rod Garage Finishes Up Project Fishtail, Their Drift ‘Cuda!

Forty-something days to take a shell of a car from out of a barn and turn it into a stomping drift car from pretty much scratch. Even when you factor out the help with parts or any of the perks of working for TEN, turning a derelict 1972 Plymouth ‘Cuda into something it was never designed to be is still a massive undertaking. There was no engine, so a Gen III Hemi went in. There was no transmission, so a built six-speed went in. There was no suspension, and the factory suspension would be woefully underprepared for the amount of abuse that Tony Angelo could throw at it with one hand tied behind his back, so that was remedied with a three-link and a rack-and-pinion setup for the front. All of which is good, all of which is functional. But then there was the call for the car to be at the SEMA show this year, and functional alone just doesn’t cut it at SEMA…it has to look the part as well. Which means paint job, which means full tear-down, which means long hours block-sanding and prepping, and more long hours putting the giant kit of parts back together one final time. They got it done, we saw it in person, now see what went on in the final week to get the Fishtail ‘Cuda out in front of the Las Vegas Convention Center!
