Killer 1960’s Vintage Drag Racing Video: Stockers, Gassers, and Slammers at ETown

This could be the coolest old drag racing video we have ever seen. Why? Oh, there are about a hundred reasons. Firstly, it was shot by Rick Moroso’s mom at Englishtown sometime in the 1960s. Second, it’s got a who’s who of people and cars from the era, and third, the sound track of classical music is great. Grumpy, Strickler, Sox and Martin, as well as a modicum of other heroes from the 1960’s are here and bangin’ gears.

More importantly, their cars are shown being driven in anger. The often talked about and rarely seen Grumpy’s Toy 1968 Nova, along with his Camaro are shown. “The Old Reliable” Camaro of Dave Strickler, the Hemi Barracuda of Bill Stiles, and many, many more.

Our favorite gasser ever, the 1933 Willys of New Jersey engine builder Jack Merkel is shown being towed to the staging lanes early in the video. Merkel was not the full time name that many of the gasser guys were, but he gave all the big dudes fits with that Willys that was sporting a small block Chevy. It ate Hemis with regularity.

This video rules.
