This awesome promotional video for the 1960 Chevy Corvair made us smile. The poor cars used in the making of the video were thrashed to within an inch of their lives! Oddly the car spends far more time off road and doing stuff like driving in streams than on the pavement.
One thing is for sure, the Corvair was one hell of a step for an American car company in 1960. Before being portrayed as a rolling slaughter machine of death in Ralph Nader’s book Unsafe at Any Speed the cars were well received by the general public and really represented the most “Euro” style of car to ever come from a Detroit manufacturer.
This video is great and if only for the reason of seeing a Corvair mud-bog, hill climb, spin, flip, and handle the bends in the road.
