Mobil Oil Made This Cool Video At Bonneville In 1965 – Short On Sound But Long On Awesome

Mobil Oil Made This Cool Video At Bonneville In 1965 – Short On Sound But Long On Awesome

It is pretty astounding to consider the amount of historic footage that never would have seen the light of day before YouTube existed. From the old road and drag racing stuff  that we show you all the time to this awesome clip that was shot by the people at Mobile oil at Bonneville in 1965. We have shared this link with guys who were actually there on the salt in 1965 and some can even remember the filming being done. The downside of the video is that there is no sound but the upside is the fact that the picture quality is awesome, the entire scene is fantastic, and the cars….ohhhh the cars!

One of the things you will notice in this video is a distinct lack of people. There looks to be about 50 people in the whole place. There will be thousands there at Speed Week this year but back in 1965, there was no interest in Bonneville other than for the people who would be there to race and even some of them hated the joint. Our favorites in this video are the 1955 Chevy and the belly tank lakester you’ll see at several points.

Can anyone name any of the people or cars shown in his great clip?
