Mr. Regular Gets The Shock Of His Reviewing Career When He Chooses This Sleeper Buick Roadmaster To Drive

Mr. Regular Gets The Shock Of His Reviewing Career When He Chooses This Sleeper Buick Roadmaster To Drive

Regular Car Reviews has a pretty set routine: Find a car that is a used driver, go for a cruise and through spoken words (some of which sound like Mr. Regular could use a glass or two of Metamucil), he breaks down the history of the car and what it’s like to live with. It’s a nice pattern, and he’s certainly done a great job of injecting humor into everyday rides. But when he took a look at this beaten up 1995 Buick Roadmaster, we doubt he knew what he was in for when he agreed to feature it.

The Buick Roadmaster was the least-exciting of GM’s 1991-1996 B-body lineup. The styling was old before it was unleashed, and if it weren’t for the fact that the 1994-1996 versions could come with the LT1 350 under the hood and 9C1 Caprice parts bolt on, there would be little to no appreciation for Buick’s biggest rolling sofa. But then we get to see that Mr. Regular didn’t just pick a two-ton sled to drive…he accidentally found himself climbing into a sleeper. Click play below to see his breakdown of this barge and watch it dance in a parking lot!

Thanks for pointing out a new source of engine donors.

Expect a lot of empty B body engine compartments this spring.

Any idea about the current scrap metal prices?

one issue with the B-body LT1. it produced less power and used cast iron heads with smaller valves so not really a great doner

Are you sure about that? My Master of the road tips the scales at 4400lbs and it will donate its heart and soul onto my S10 comes in at 2700lbs. Simple math tell me the S10 is going to be damn fun. Until it happens I’ll just keep on rollin my Roadmaster. This gave me a good laugh, just wonder why all the donuts were in the dark?

Mater, you are a little naïve to the B-body huh? Having owned (and still do) and drag raced these car, they can make plenty of power. Its choosing the right parts is the key. My car weighed over 4K pounds and was .07 from breaking into the 12’s (1/4 mile)with just both-ons. Building a new car to break into the 11’s fully street legal this year.

    I’ve always wanted a Roadbastard, wagon especially, with either a nitrous’d LT-1 or a cheap 5.3L turbo.

This video would have been awesome with Tom Waits doing the voice over!

It sounds like one of his twisted stories….

I totally agree with you John T., but I couldn’t even get that far, probably the most annoying voice ever, I just wanted to blow my brains out before it had a chance to start bleeding. That voice is about as unpleasant and annoying as Mister Rogers. The guy could be hired by the CIA or the military to interrogate people, no one could last a minute without giving in everything they know.

Got less than a minute into the video and couldn’t go any further. Long winded and lame commentary. Too bad, I’d have liked to see the car. Stay on topic, no need for all the dramatics.

I built a 95 a few years ago with a 383, aluminum heads, LT4 hot cam and a few other goodies. It ran strong, and would kill the rear tires.

If you get a tow package car it came factory with posi traction, I think they had 2.93 gears. The downfall in my opinion about the tow package cars was the mechanical fan vs. the electric fan. With some wiring it’s easy to convert to an electric fan though.

They can be built to handle decently, since they share the same platform as an impala SS, there is tons of aftermarket support. Mine had hotchkis sway bars, bilstein shocks and eibach springs. It handled surprisingly well.

I hope this guy is on the powertour! My brother and I are putting an LT4 cam into a Roadmaster Wagon as we speak!

Yes, we are from Philly as well.

That video should be used in all media related teaching on how to shoot a video, how to voice over a video, and on how to research your material. Because that video did every aspect of those wrong.

Man, that was just bad. Bad.
