Not Every Holden Is A Burnout Car…Check Out This Beastly Kingswood Pulling Truck!

If there is such a thing as “burnout season” in Australia, it’s currently in full force right now. Video after video, we’ve seen some of the best come out swinging, turning tires into fine mist and ordinary spectators into screaming, mental hordes that cannot get near enough. It’s fun and all, and we’d love to give it a shot one day, but the burnout is only one side of the many things Aussies do with four wheels and an engine. Remember, this is a country nearly the size of the continental United States…there’s lots of room for activities. One of which is the good old-fashioned truck pull. This is the land of the road train, so dragging something heavy along was going to become a thing sooner or later, and if it’s combined with a screaming big-block, all the better. The only real difference between what the Aussies do and what goes on over here, as far as we can observe, is where the parts for the trucks are sourced from. This Holden Kingswood ute has a 454 and a TH400, but it’s hooked up to a Eaton Road Ranger gearbox and from there feeds into a rear axle swiped from a Leyland of some kind. Whatever, those are trivia notes…all you need to know is how well this ute does once the green flag drops!

glad to see acknowledgement that we do more than burnouts here! I’ve seen negative comments that imply that all we do is build burnout pigs, and / or any can doing burnouts here was built for that purpose only . Yes, we have burnout only cars but many of them are street cars, and yes, we do things other than burnouts! Drags, track days, pulls, lotsa road race / tarmac type stuff and a million other activities are part and parcel of Aussie car fun. Even Summernats gets portrayed as a mainly burnout event but its only part of the overall picture!
