Rally Royalty: Petrolicious Checks Out An American-Owned Lancia Delta Integrale

After Group B was shut down due to safety concerns, the next top-tier rally class, Group A, was introduced and any doubts about whether or not the cars could be competitive and exciting to watch were forgotten. Lancia, whose Delta S4 was at the center of the “final straw” moment that ended Group B, wasn’t going to walk away from the motorsport…the company had been on a winning streak in racing and they weren’t going to give up that mine easily. The Delta S4 rally car was dead, but the incoming Delta Integrale was arriving, and what it lacked in sheer madness, it made up for in a package that was tidy enough to sell to the general public…in detuned form, of course. Since Delta Integrales are starting to crest the 25-year importation rule, more and more are starting to appear in the States imported by those who appreciate the heritage and the idiosyncrasies involved in owning an Italian hot hatch.
