Spraying Out The Fire While Riding Shotgun? Now That’s A Good Friend!

Spraying Out The Fire While Riding Shotgun? Now That’s A Good Friend!

We’ve never quite understood the reasoning behind having a passenger in an Aussie burnout contest. Besides sticking a raised finger out of the window and trying to amp up the crowd, what’s the point? It’s not like they’re part of the competition…they’re ballast, basically. Right? Well…for the most part, yeah, that’s the truth, but occasionally there is a purpose that they can serve. When Dave Vearing’s Holden van goes from smokeshow to rolling barbecue, that’s when the passenger makes the best wingman decision ever: instead of shutting the show down long enough for track safety to come out and douse the Holden’s hind quarters, he snatches the fire extinguisher that’s in the car, hangs out of the window, and goes to work on the flames himself! The safety crew still stopped the show, mostly because the driver’s side of the car needed to be checked out as well, but it’s safe to say that this guy earned dinner and a beer for this move!

The sound and the fury. An engine on the limiter. The sound of power, singing a tune.
And when your mate goes out for his turn on the pad, it’s “Yo! I’m coming with ya!”. Reckon he would’ve had to put his beer down to grab the extinguisher though!

Burnout comps exist because they’ll arrest if you do it on the street, plus huge prize money now.

    That’s why
