The Parting Shift: Street Driving a Pro-Shifted T5

The Parting Shift: Street Driving a Pro-Shifted T5

Being a gearhead is often about making sacrifices. Take this video for example. The guy driving the car obviously races it and because of that he had the T5 transmission “Pro-Shifted” by Liberty Gear. Through that process the stock synchronizers are removed and the gears in the transmission are replaced with cogs that have different spacing and “engagement” windows to allow for far fewer missed shifts and more accurate full throttle shifting. Most would say that cars with this modification are impossible to drive on the street. Wrongo!

It is no easy feat but this video proves it can be done and done smoothly. Hell, any of you that rode the school bus before the late ’80s knows that their school bus driver went through this “double clutch” routine every day. We know this is different from our typical gear banging “Parting Shift” items, but the footwork and handiwork with the shifter are pretty impressive! Enjoy.
