The Parting Shift: Two Tasks With One Hand (And The Guy Performs Them Both Better Then Us!)

The Parting Shift: Two Tasks With One Hand (And The Guy Performs Them Both Better Then Us!)

I’m always inspired by guys who don’t let stuff get in the way of their love of cars, hot rods, trucks, or things of that sort. Be it physical impairments or other stuff, people find a way to do the stuff that they love. This is the case with the the driver featured in this video who is a total bad ass. The driver has lost the use of his right arm an instead of packing it in, swapping an automatic into his car and cruising that way, this dude kept the four speed and can hammer the gears with the best of them, using his left hand.

Not only is this guy great and jamming the gears, the car sounds pretty fast as well. When he decks the throttle and keeps his foot into it, the thing really makes some tracks! As the car is pulling he shifts second, third, and fourth like no big thing, reaching his good arm through the wheel to reach the white shifter ball atop the stick. We’re guessing that this guy can out shift many racers who have both of their arms to use. Can you imagine the look on their faces when they see this dude get out of the car? Must be priceless!

This is my friend, Chris. I have known him for a few years. He is a Marine Veteran, having served in Iraq. However, he lost the use of his right arm in a motorcycle accident, not at war. Chris owned this Dart for several years, but has since sold it. He had a later model Ford Mustang with a 5 speed that he also whooped on for a while as well, doing some auto cross and drag racing with that. Currently, he is in between projects, but has a Harley that he rides quite regularly (weather permitting in Michigan).
