This Polaris RZR’s Backflip Antics At Dunefest 2015 Are A Hit…And A Miss…And A Rollover….

The backflip. There is something about it that awesome as a spectator and terrifying as all hell for the one in the middle of the action. On the ground, it’s a graceful movement. In reality, you are ass-over-teakettle and the world won’t stop spinning, and there’s a good chance it will spin for a few moments after the flip is completed. And I’m only talking about gymnastics! Backflipping vehicles have been a thing ever since Jose Yanez a BMX turned freestyle motocross rider, first did it in 1991. As time moved on, more and more people attempted the trick and eventually, got good at it. If it was good enough for a bike, it was good enough for a quad, truck, monster truck, and in this case, a UTV.

This is Marc Burnett. Marc is a Baja UTV driver, freestyle motocross performer, and is quite possibly out of his own head, because he decided to try and backflip his Polaris RZR at Dunefest 2015 in Oregon. Marc, as a pro, surely knew going into the trick that it wouldn’t be easy: you have to launch perfectly, with the right speed, momentum and angle. On a motorcycle it is extremely difficult. On a UTV with a natural weight offset because of his seating position? Well…click play and see for yourself:
