Video: A Wild Drag Boat Save and Sink – No Wreckage, Amazing Driving, Then Cue The Rescue Drivers!

Video: A Wild Drag Boat Save and Sink – No Wreckage, Amazing Driving, Then Cue The Rescue Drivers!

In 1985 Danny Sullivan executed the famous “spin and win” maneuver at the Indy 500 and became a sensation. In drag boat racing there is no such thing but there is something we’re going to dub the “save and sink” maneuver and that’s what MavTV sponsored racer Scotty Lambert had happen to him at a recent event in Texas. Lambert dropped the hammer on his boat, went streaking across the lake, encountered an out of shape situation that would normally result in a horrifying crash and disintegration of the boat, and saved the sucker from certain doom. Unfortunately in the course of said save the hull must have been compromised and as soon as forward motion stops, the craft begins taking on water and it heads for Davy Jones locker.

What’s impressive about this video, outside of the insane driving job that Lambert completed to keep his machine in one piece is the quick response time of the safety crew/divers to get Lambert out of his newly minted submarine. It is a truly amazing thing to watch this boat barely avoid complete destruction. it is equally as scary to see the boat go under after Lambert has opened the hatch! As you’ll see in the video, he was removed from the machine without incident. His blown Hemi was certainly a little on soggy side, though.

This video is from Lucas Oil’s “Wreck Wednesday” program that they run on their YouTube page. If you’re not a subscriber, you need to be. Some of the stuff they post is truly out there!

Many are familiar with sportscaster/television personality/Dancing with the Stars competitor Erin Andrews. Well, while I was away during the month of September, I had a chance to send her some questions in connect with her new joint venture with Degree Women clinical Protection with motionSENSE鈩? The campaign, called Unapologetically Strong, celebrates women who push through adversity, who are determined to rise and keep going no matter what the circumstances. It’s a program that encourages women to test their limits, push boundaries and realize our inner strength.
