Of all the types of failures race cars and high performance cars in general can have, losing the wheels ranks pretty high up on the list. We’ve seen race cars sheer off wheel studs and send tires off into the wilderness, there are instances of people forgetting to tighten, or even install lug nuts, and then there are the truly bizarre failures where in one instant everything is fine and in another, you are driving a trike or worse.

They learnef to drive the wheels off just about everthink. I even had some moment with them dang lugnuts on my butt no way to tigjten em up because of after market thinkin wete in tarnation am I going to find a tire socket other than in a tire shop or my tool box 30 miles away. Good thing for moderen conveniances like cell phones.

the Ambrose one is the best thing ever – I remember watching this one live… Barry Sheene is one of the commentators and I LOVE his little quip right at the end – ` that’s what you call a control tyre’ (yes, I spelt it the Aussie way – cos that’s how Barry said it!!)
