Video: The Pure Vision Martini Mustang On The Road With Commentary From Steve Strope

There'sMoreGraphic465x25

In the event you were living under a rock at SEMA 2012 you may have missed the Pure Vision T5-R Mustang which is an incredible machine that combines all of the great styling and cues of 1960s European rally cars with power from an actual 1960s Ford Indy engine and a fake (but awesome) backstory that Ford would have built a car like this to go and further dominate the rally scene in the middle 1960s. Steve Strope and his Pure Vision crew are responsible for the car and up until this video the closest thing we have of its sound and fury were the clips we showed you of Ed Pink dyno testing the engine that he built for it. This video has plenty of screaming sound, sexy footage, great lighting, and honestly cool backstory from Strope as he tells not only the story of the Mustang but also his story.

The YouTube commenters are as typically nasty as you’d expect when reviewing this video, honing in on Strope’s comments about himself and the car but we didn’t see that at all. If you sit there and listen to what the guy is saying and take it to heart you’ll understand 100%. He’s speaking pure car guy. There’s a line in here where he talks about calling his wife in the middle of the frantic SEMA projects he has become famous for and asking her, “Why the hell am I doing this?” and thinking that more than once to himself. I honestly believe that anyone who is neck deep into this stuff has to have that moment happen every once in a while. Maybe it happens in a hotel room in who-knows-where in the middle of the night when you’re fighting to write stuff for the next day or maybe it happens under a car in the pits of a drag race, but it happens. Anyone who says that it doesn’t is lying.

The video is spectacular in our opinion and six minutes of your time well spent. Just to hear the Mustang rumbling along and pulling through the gears is a thing of unimaginable coolness. Actually, it could be better…if we were driving! Watch the video, drink in the completely and utter awesome of the Mustang and then listen to what Steve Strope has to say. I don’t think it is too self aggrandizing as much as it is honest and to the point. I enjoyed his perspective more than just, “Yeah we worked had on this car and it came out nice.” There’s a lot more to the story than that and Strope lets us in on some of it here.

Ask … and sometimes ye shall receive ! Molto Grazie BS ! 😉

But yeah .. could someone slap those YouTube commentators upside the head and tell em to stick to the subject at hand …. that being the bloody car and NOT Mr Strope’s personality !!!!!

Truth be known … awesome … is a complete understatement when it comes to this car . This is just so right .. so completely flawless .. so utterly perfect … so totally in line historically with what Ford might of done ….. it almost Hurts to look and think about this car …

    Its THAT damn good !!!

Then he fires the car up …. and you’re done … brains on sensory overload … its ..almost …. too good … assuming thats possible

    Damn !!! 😉

I certainly identified with a lot of the things he said about being a car guy/builder. Car is Bad Ass as well.

Its a great “what if “,that Ford could have built..those that doesnt get this great build, havent got a clue about Fords racing in Europe.

I think that build tops Eleanor for sure! Amazingly well thought out balanced design and executed build, BRAVO!!!…I have been waiting for some kind of Stang resto-mod with a GT40 engine….The sound of THAT engine is just, well, plain murderous….

I finally have an answer when someone asks me “What would you buy if you won the lottery?”
I’d have Steve Strope build me something!
