Video: The Story of a Bitchin’ 1959 Beetle That’s 100% BS Approved – Stance Perfection!

The boys from Holley are back with another neat video featuring a cool car from the 2012 Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion. This time they trained their cameras on a 1959 Beetle that is done in a modified California style and looks oh so right to us. The stance, flawless black paint, bitchin’ wheels, and simple but way cool interior punch all the right buttons in our car crazed brains. Adding to the coolness is the fact that the owners are full on VW devotees with a stable of classic Bugs and vans.

We’ve never owned one of these cars before but if we ever get our hands on one, we’ll be using this one as a reference guide on stance. The chin dragging look with a little rake is perfect and according to the folks in the video, the front suspension is adjustable, so the look can be a little more wild or even slightly more wild if we deemed it too low for junky northeastern roads. The engine in the car is 1776cc, so while it isn’t a wild wheelstanding drag strip slayer, it’ll move far better than the 36hp it was originally equipped with.

Press play below and see the full profile on this super clean Beetle. It is a family project that sees lots of car shows and cruises as well as serving as inspiration for the next generation of VW enthusiasts as the owners’ daughter is wrenching on her own Beetle for when she earns her driver’s license. How cool is that?

Press play and learn more about this fantastic 1959 VW Beetle!

Good: Premo looking Type I, but ultimately it needs a Porsche 356A/B drivetrain. Extra points for daughter involvement.

Bad: If I see another show car/driver with a surf board on it, I’m going to upchuck.

amen on the surfboard, brother!–almost as obnoxious as the cry baby thing…my first car was a cherry little bug–red, white interior–street racer(hell,we raced everything),off road, next best thing to a jeep, cruiser—great little cars—and the air cooled motor is one of the top ten of all time—powered everything from docile little grocery getters,to serious baja machines,to formula cars, milatary vehicles, countless kit cars, bad ass drag cars, airplanes, motorcycles, trikes and boats!
