At least we think is it Sonora, Mexico. It could be Sonora, Texas but either way, what you’ll see in the videos below is pretty wild. This isn’t dirt racing like trucks dirt racing, this is dirt racing like blown pro street ’55 Chevy drag cars, Novas, and Camaros on a dirt quarter mile course. We don’t know about the speeds achieved, the chassis setups to run on dirt, or the elapsed times, but damn this is cool to watch.
By the looks of the videos, these are asphalt drag cars with little drag race front runner tires and knobby off road dirt tires in the back. The rocks and junk that get thrown into the wheel tubs must make some hellacious noise in the car when headed down the course and depending on how rutted and junked up the track is by the end of the day, the driving experience must be like speeding in a cement truck.
This is the type of drag racing that brings whole new meanings to the term “outlaw”! It also proves that racers race, no matter what.
Press play on the videos below to see some truly wild action from the Mexican…or Texas desert. Crazy!

I live about 20 minutes away from where this takes place. It is in the small town of Naco, Sonora Mexico. Many of these cars were raced on drag strips until all of the tracks around the area closed down. What brian says is correct… Take the slicks off, throw on some BF’g mud terrains and run. From what i can remember, the 55 above used to run mid to high 9’s on the blacktop. I’ll try to find links if i can.
now we know where stolen cars go
