Watch A BangShifter Haul The Mail At The Pagoda Hill Climb In A Gnarly Home Built Car – Screaming Revs and Clipping Apexes!

BangShifter Sherman (we’ll hide his last name to protect the guilty) was a long time dirt track racer with the vehicle you will see in the video below. Similar to a Legends car, this is a completely homebuilt hot rod that now sees lots of action at autocrosses and hill climbs around New England and beyond. In this video we see Sherman making a sprint up the hill at the 2013 Pagoda Hill Climb in Pennsylvania. The car is a hellacious little hot rod with a motorcycle engine, a curb weight of a little more than 1,000lbs, a six speed transmission that can be banged through the gears under throttle and grip for days. You’ll love watching this run out the hill from over Sherman’s shoulder. You can see him working in the driver’s seat and you can almost feel the car working as well.

Here’s how Sherman described the car on the BangShift forums:

Its all home built-1 1/4″ tube chassis + a bunch of junkyard parts. The motor is out of a crashed bike-it uses the bikes clutch + 6 speed trans (sequential-just push forward on the lever to shift clutchless without lifting)-the rear axle is a narrowed Toyota with a limited slip-front spindles + rotors a Chevette-rear rotors are Nissan. 13″x8″ sticky tires. Coil overs on all 4 corners. Its a great “point + squirt” car-gears in it top out at 110 mph. It sticks pretty good-but you still steer it with the gas pedal. Like all modern sports bikes, it likes the revs-peak hp is at 11.5k rpm

This is a hot rod born of crafty thinking and good old fashioned elbow grease. That’s 100% BangShift approved goodness that we can endorse all day long. Outside of that stuff, the car looks to me more fun than you can legally have with your clothes on. Watching Sherman drive it and listening to that motor sing at 10,000 RPM and up really is something. Like we said earlier, you are killing time at the office, kill the next minute and a half on a very fast ride up a very twisty hill!
