Easter Egg: Watch a Formula Car Run Around a Snowy and Icy Nurburgring at a Shockingly Fast Pace

We got a reader tip on a pretty neat video from Germany that shows Andy Gulden, who is the head instructor at the Nurburgring Driving Academy, hauling some pretty serious ass around the ‘Ring in an open wheel formula car…while the course is completely covered in ice and snow! The real action starts around 3:00 into the video when he wicks the speed way up and frankly, he is probably quicker in the snow than 90% of the rest of us would be on dry pavement!

There are multiple cameras mounted on the car and for us, the coolest part is watching how much he has to work the wheel. Gulden appears to be in complete control of the car the entire time, but he is really working for a living in the cockpit! He take a minute or two to see just how the car is going to act on the snow, but as we said above, roughly three minutes in, he puts the hammer down and is able to run around the course at a pretty shocking pace. Obviously, the car is not wearing slicks, and they do not appear to be studded snow tires, so we’re going to call them an all weather radial.

We’d have probably wadded it up in half a lap!

    That’s expert raw ability.

Tyres look like hand cut winter radials (Germans have to use special compound/construction winter tyres in the winter months anyway) , and i think once he had speed up, some downforce was helping.

However supreme confidence and ability made it happen.
