There have been more than a few NASCAR races decided with a car crossing the finish line upside down, sideways, or otherwise hemmed up into another competitor’s machine. While those wreckage finish photos and video are cool, this one may take the cake. In this video you’ll see Mike Klensin cross the finish line at the infamous King of the Hammers off road race in California. He comes through sideways at full bore and then goes on the ride of his life…and sticks the landing!
The King of the Hammers is a unique event that combines desert racing with rock crawling in a wild competition. You have to have a rig that can haul the mail at high speeds in the desert sections and then crawl like a rock buggy when you get to boulders the size of Volkswagens. There is nothing else on Earth like it and tomorrow, we’re going to give you a first hand account from a racer that ran the event this year.
