Watch This Turbocharged Boss 302 Mustang Get On It A Little Too Much At A Half-Mile Run!

A straight-line, half-mile run should be extremely simple to do, right? Point the car toward the finish line, plant your foot to the floor, and once you pass the timing beams, get off of the gas and start slowing down. It’s not that hard, right? Maybe if you’re in a dead stock street car, maybe. It looks simple, but it isn’t. In order to maximize the 2,640 feet that you have, everything has to be spot-on: launch, shift points, and wind all have to be taken into account. The owner of this turbocharged late-model Boss 302 Mustang had two of those points down, but on one of his early runs at the WannaGoFast event at Ingalls Field in Virginia, the “launch” part proved to be…well, let’s say “entertaining”. The Mustang is a wicked piece, especially when the boost kicks in as evident by it’s space-shuttle smokeshow off of the line in first gear, but once the tail starts to step around, the driver goes into damage control mode: he slides the car off of the runway onto a taxiway, recovers, and proceeds back out onto the runway, wide awake, a little bit white-knuckled and full of mental notes on how to not do that again…ever.

I wonder how many fanboys have bailed on the Mustang because of the new-hate…. still, Wilma running? classic stuff there.
