Underground Racing has made their name known over the last several years by taking super cars and turning them into hyper cars that make insane horsepower and achieve equally mind boggling speeds. In case you think we’re blowing smoke about that, check this video out of a UGR hot rodded Lamborghini Gallardo streaking through the timing traps at a Wanna Go Fast standing half mile race at 219 mph. This thing is absolutely blazing as it heads through lights and one can only imagine what it would do if given another half mile or more to stretch its legs.
We have no specifics on what has been done to the car altough we’re going to jump out on a limb and suggest that turbocharging is part of the upgrade program with this particular car. To run that speed in that distance, the car has to be making close to four digit horsepower at the wheels which is completely insane. We’ll also take a stab and suggest that this car is all wheel drive because again, hooking all that power to the Earth is a difficult thing to do, even at speed. Being down near the top end of the standing mile we see cars that are capable of spinning the tires at that distance, so pouring on the coals this hard in the half is mind boggling.
